Massif · private 3D hunting maps, with every mark sealed under a key only you hold

Access · By invitation

Massif runs on iPhone and Android. We’re opening it by invitation, a few people at a time.

Gloved hands hold a phone inside a wall tent at night. A lantern glows behind it, and the screen shows a dark topographic map with one red marker.

Encryption · yours alone

Only your key opens your map.

Every pin, track, note and photo is encrypted on your phone before it syncs. Each mark gets its own AES-256-GCM key, and your phone locks those keys with a device key it makes in its own secure hardware. That key never leaves the phone.

Locked. Massif can’t open it.
The same mark in two places. Its name, location and note are all inside the ciphertext, which is longer than the note it hides.

Our servers keep a sealed copy, so your marks sync and can come back on a new phone with your recovery kit. Massif can’t read your spots, sell them or hand them over.

How the key works

Mapping

Know the country before you climb it.

Massif builds the map from high-resolution elevation, LiDAR and sub-meter imagery. Tilt it, orbit it and read it the way you’d glass it from the far ridge.

LiDAR bare earth · canopy removed · 1 m
  1. 3D terrain

Tilt and orbit real elevation. See how a basin drains, where the benches sit and which face holds snow.

  2. LiDAR bare earth

About 1 m resolution with the timber stripped away, where survey data exists. Benches, saddles, funnels, wallows and old roads show up plainly.

  3. Layers

30 cm imagery, 20 ft contours, slope-angle shading, snow, public land and parcel boundaries.

  4. Routes and offline

Plan a route with its elevation profile, save the region, and keep the whole map with no signal.
